Kinoko Shrine
An exploration of creating a stylized game world in a future Japan.
In the future world of 2075, robots are the only ones left on earth and they are trying to live life as humans did. By doing this, they are exploring mythologies and recreating folklore as we did. Set in Japan, we follow the trial up a mountain to a mystical Shinto shrine. The Kinoko Shrine (Kinoko, meaning Mushroom in Japanese).
Working with Nathan Robinson, we have been creating this world together for some months. As he is the brains behind the blueprint, I work as the environment artist and make our world look pretty.
Inspiration
For this project, I have been mainly inspired by Ghibli films for both choice of style and colours.
As I am often drawn to stylized games, I am inspired to master this style myself.
